You cannot downgrade your ps3 (above 3.55). You're stuck on that firmware for now.

i know there aint a 3.66 downgrade am asking if i click yes on update via usb it comes up with the 3.55 cfw now that souldent happen coz im on i high firmwear but what (WILL) happen if i accept the user agreement for the cfw ? will it install or will it brick the console

it will get maybe half way then error but no one has been bricked from trying

if you put your cfw on a usb stick, it will get between 20 and 60 percent and say either corrupted data, or you already have a higher version, it wont brick your system as the ps3 only starts writing after the console restarts during, the enitial percentage it is just copying not writing, and the system must restart to begin writing to your nand, regrettably there is no downgrade at the moment if you have went beyond 3.55, sorry mate you will just have to sit this one out.
