Point 1 Jailbreaking is the act of modifying the console in a way to run unsigned code, such as emulators, ported games, file managers what ever the case is if its not distributed by sony then most likely a cfw or jailbroken ps3. Currently there are only jailbreaks/cfw for consoles running firmware less than version 3.55.

unfortunately there is no way to jailbreak a higher firmware as you would need a infectus chip which can be expensive, and also hard to do based on the tools needed such as a soldering gun and the time to do it.

1A It is widely recommended by manny on this forum to use either kmeaw or rebug firmware, rebug for the features, kmeaw for the stability.

1B to jailbreak your ps3 you need to be on a firmware less than or equal to 3.55
for the 3.55 jailbreak if you are on a lower firmware you must first update to 3.55 you can retrieve the pup from here You must login or register to view this content.
after the download has finished extract and put the pup on a usb formatted in fat 32 in the folder set up PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP
once your ps3 is on firmware version 3.55 you can download any firmware you want from here You must login or register to view this content. and do the same procedure as updating to 3.55, however if it gives you a eroor you must try in recovery mode

however you will have to go to You must login or register to view this content. to find rebug cfw as i respect the devs wishes

1C Homebrew-
Backup managers- Multiman, Gaia, Rogero these are used for playing games backed up on the hard drive or downloaded (pirated games)

Emulators- psmame, fba next, fuse ect used for playing rom files of the specified console

there are many other games and other os homebrew availabe at You must login or register to view this content.

1B istall like any pkg file you will be fine

Point 3 QA FLAG

QA Flag

A QA flag is a value set in SC EEPROM at address 0x48C0A. When this flag is set, the token is read from SYSCON and decrypted, this gets passed to various modules to unlock certain functionality.
[edit] QA Token

A QA token is an 80 byte value that determines amount of functionality on your console. It is signed with a 20 byte SHA1 key then encrypted using AES256CBC. Please see the keys page.

1A - tools you can find the tools needed here
You must login or register to view this content.
this includes the qa_flag.pkg, the reset_qa_flag.pkg, and the qa_flag_extra.pkg

1B procedure Run qa_flag.pkg if you hear a beep, it worked. If not dump your debug messages via udp_printf on linux and send to gitbrew
go to network settings (Do not enter it) and hit or hold
L1+L2+L3+R1+R2+down on the d-pad
QA flagging is now done.

1C downgrading with qa flag

qa_flag_extra.pkg lets you downgrade your PS3 from 3.55 to 3.41 or 3.15. Run it, it should beep, then you reboot into the Recovery Menu and flash the 3.41 / 3.15 PUP.

Why so serious? It's free speech, as long as it's not inappropriate or off topic.
