Post: question about swapping hardrives

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); k i know im new to this but can i swap a ps3 hardrive thats 3.66 firmware and swap in a hardrive of same size but its 3.55 firmware????????????

i have an older ps3 if that helps

nope it not going to work. cuz sony got something called 4 stages of secruity. when u turn on your system it reads the playstation's hard drive and motherboard to check for the system's welfare.. that won't be able to be read by anyother Ps3. a hdd can only be read by the ps3 it's already in.

To use another hardrive on your ps3 you would have to format it deleting all the data on it so in the end it would be pointless hope i helped

well you right on point 1 but not 2(that won't be able to be read by anyother Ps3. a hdd can only be read by the ps3 it's already in) i took my 120 out and placed it in my old fat to add more size and it worked

The firmware is not located in the hard drive so it will not work.
