Once upon a time...

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); i brought a new ps3 slim yesterday and the stock firmware was on 3.65 so i thing that all the stock ps3s will no longer have a fw lower than 3.65... thats what i think also my ps3 date is 1B aka 2nd quarter of 2008

possibly not as many people were trading in there ps3s which were on firmware above 3.55 so they could get a new one containing 3.55.

Thats not true. It all depends when they get distributed from sony warehouse. Ive bought many ps3s this year on 3.21 from walmart.

i got mine a few days ago checked its and it had 3.65 and the date code is 1B

There was a report about this several months ago that mentioned that new batches of PS3 consoles starting in August will have 3.60 FW. It's old news.

Yep that's the best way. Just get a cheap refurbished $150 40GB, upgrade it with a $40 500GB sata harddrive and you got yourself a PS3 with CFW possibility.

All the gamestops in my town were told specifically when they get trade ins they are supposed to update the consoles to the latest firmware.
