(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The PS Vita incarnation of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II is a different beast compared to the other Continuum Shifts that came before it. It's being made to be more than a port, with extra content being added in by series developer Arc System Works.

The game, which will be released as BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend, is basically an upgraded version of the BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II arcade game. It has been confirmed to feature new characters Ignus and Relius Clover, new scenarios including the two from the PSP and 3DS releases, an Abyss Mode, and a network mode.

BlazBlue fans who already have a PS3 or Xbox 360 won't have to go out and buy a PS Vita just to enjoy Continuum Shift Extend's new features, though. Japanese gaming mag Famitsu has confirmed that the new content in the handheld game will be making their way to PS3 and Xbox 360 eventually. No word yet on whether it will involve a new retail disc or a downloadable update pack.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend is expected to land on PS Vita this winter in Japan. The game's release window coincides with the one Sony is targeting for the PS Vita's Japanese launch.
