Is there a difference in them ? because the new once doesn't even take a disk in now, or is the power cable to the blue ray drive broken? please help and thanks

no i dont think there's any difference in them, but if the chip on the controller board is gone the blu ray wont work. even if you buy a new one.

just take the circuit board from the broken drive and put it the new drive. :y:

you cant buy a new controller board online because its linked with your ps3 motherboard. even if you use another ps3 controller board the blu-ray wont function.
