You already have a PS3? And you want another one?

Well, the PS3 prices have dropped recently according to this You must login or register to view this content. by The Open Minded. It really depends how much you can save by buying a preowned one and how much memory you want to have on it. Just look around at preowned ones at their specs and period of usage as well as their price before settling on a new one.

Ah, I see. That makes sense then. Depending on how much you get for your birthday, you may not have much leftover to buy games. :P

Honestly,
If you want a decent PS3, just look in your local Craiglist, Kijij or if you have an Ebay Account look on Ebay.
I bought my PS3 80GB for $200, it had all the cables and a controller included. If you don't have much to spend and want one for yourself, buy one used. :y:
