At the IFA Conference yesterday, Sony CEO Howard Stringer claimed that since the outage over 3 million PSN users have joined up. To put that in comparison there is only over two and a half million users just on Steam alone.


Whilst the numbers are a tad outrageous to say the least, Stringer had this to say, "We are aggressively expanding its content [and] have more than 3 million new customers since the network came back online, and sales are exceeding what we had before the cyber-attacks." Sony has definitely stepped up it's game and with the love and support Valve has given them since the attacks, next year might be Sony's time to shine.


Howard was talking about 2011 saying "we at Sony have been flooded, we've been flattened, we've been hacked, we've been singed. But the summer of our discontent is behind us."

Stringer also revealed launch information for Sony's Tablet S device, which will be priced at $499 and $599 at launch - the same as Apple's market-leading iPad. Some people are already speculating that the tablet and the Vita will share cross platform apps and games, as well as a few games from Sony's back catalogue - basically Crash Bandicoot almost anywhere you want him to be.

yeah but either way even though our stuff got hacked we still managed to get 3 million more people who r picking the PS3 instead of the X-BOX 360

the 3million users is sonys fault because of his 2 useless securing the ps3 week now we got E3 Flasher that makes sony mad

quite a lot of people made new accounts because they forgot their e-mail or something, also the prices for ps3's dropped quite a lot so that's another reason

Still s long way to go to match xbox. They have like 35 Million now.

Damn 3 Million of new Users!! Half of them is people with 2nd Accounts

most of the new people who joined the playstation community joined in hopes it would happen again and they too would recieve free things for compensation, but they saw how fun it is to play and ended up staying, and also half of the "new" people are actually old people making new accounts because they used fake info originally and cant access thier other accounts lol

You say 3 million new users, but is that added onto the 70 million users already registered?
By this I mean, that 70 million PSN accounts are still there, but over time that number will obviously increase, or am I mistaken?

Yea 3 million more cuz half the people lost there accounts.
