I have a 250gb slim ps3 that wont read blu ray games or disc but reads dvd and audio cds.Is there a test I can do before buying a replacement part ?Could it be possible that it just needs cleaning and if so how can I do this ?

And last question if I do need to buy a replacemnt part are they generic or do I need a certain model for my slim ?

Honestly, maybe it has to do with the wirering..Do u have HDMI cable or something? I have the normal ps3 not the slim and it works just fine, otherwise I suggest you go return it and ask what the problem is.
