Why did you decide to make this CFW? Was it for the contest, or for other reasons?
I prefer Cosmetic MFW, why the first because I'm a helper and some users that never used PS3MFW Builder wanted the newly discovered Cinavia patch (actually not even a patch, just replacing retail files with debug files) so that was the first NFW, a basic MFW with Cinavia disabled. For the contest? No, as I didn't really even think of the contest when I built it!
How did you create the very first NFW? From the begining...
The first one, well I actually answered that in the first question, it was nothing just basically all PS3MFW Builder.
However I saw it was quite popular so that's when I decided to step it up and actually build something. Then came NFW v2 with this one I added a homebrew category which I named "the Homebrew Channel in honor of Team Twiizers members Marcan & Bushing also of failOverFlow, change the name of app_home/PS3_GAME to read Start Game (disc-less) (actually since dongle days I've always used Play Game (disc-less) I changed it for NFW's release) plus removed icons, disabled Cinavia & spoofed (later un-spoofed).
With NFW v3 I received my Cobra USB so of course I added my change to Cobra CFW (for my own personal use, but then decided everyone should get to try it) since I had already added Package Manager to mine I thought I'd ask permission before releasing it & got the thumbs up from Cyberskunk.
Planning on any tutorials? How I made NFW, something... the people are hungry for NFW
Tutorials? And give away my secrets? No seriously I learned from other tutorials. Tools I used are out there available to every one, PS3MFW Builder v0.2 (I hear v0.3 going to be even easier to use), Notepad++ (XML), RCOmage (RCO), SFOedit (SFO), doz packer (PKG), REBUG, multiMAN, dev_blind (now incorporated into multiMAN), etc...
What words of advice do you have for a newbie getting into the scene, or even an year-one guy like myself?
Read, Analyze, Learn & Experiment (Cautiously)
What other things have you made, or are going to make Newbie Friendly?
I'm Planning at least one more release (NFW v3.3X3) and maybe a few more homebrew packs
What is the meaning of life?
There's a meaning? I haven't found it yet. I just live it day by day, you never know what tomorrow brings.
And... Just how Newbie Friendly is NFW?
Friendly enough for my 4 yr old
What was your opinion about the contest?
My opinion on the whole contest thing is I think it's a good idea, a good incentive, a good reason for others to get involved on developing for the PS3
Why did you participate, and was it fun?
I didn't mean to participate, but when I found out I was in the contest I had fun, competition is fun
Why do you think you won the contest?
I have some great supporters and friends here and plenty of them know I'm just here to my fellow "Sceners"
Why do you think people liked your project?
It was different from the boring old FW (except REBUG, I just wish I could use it with the Cobra USB) plus I think they knew coming from me it would have technical support (seeing as I'm always here)
Were you surprised at how many 'likes' you received?
Yes definitely
And there you have it folks! Congratulations again go out to bitsbubba and we hope the $250 donation comes in handy. The work that bitsbubba did was awesome and we are looking forward to future updates from him as well as new submissions from the devs that are working hard to push this scene forward. That's all! Thanks to bitsbubba, for the interview, the NFW, and for always being helpful!
Be sure to stop by the NFW-Repository for all things NFW related!
