Might as well give a lubricant like WD40 a go before spending money on a new fan
In saying that simply maintenance will help, clean all the dust out, clean the fan, put new thermal past on.
Do those steps and the fan will not need to work so hard and will stop making annoying sounds.

Open it up and clean it out. over the years dust goes everywhere and blocks the fan

yes there is , i had the same problem , easy solution , go grab your vacuum , turn it on , put the nozzle up to the side of the ps3 where the fan is , unclog your fan , clean it very good , turn it on , no noise , your welcome
