Why do you need GB when you have a computer? Pointless.

People were plugging up 1 or 2 TB to their PS3's couple years back... Through USB, of course. Video on how to get the HD to work on PS3. And a link to very expensive 2TB external HD. Btw, I don't exactly what HD's work on PS3, so you might want to check it out first If 2 TB is to much, You could always find a 1 TB.
