Well for one using an Ethernet cable (Direct wired connection) will drastically change your download speeds, also make sure that your PS3 is setup to a Type 1 NAT or a Type 2 NAT.

Since most people have a router in their home for connecting multiple computers and/or other devices to the internet a Type 2 NAT is probably what you will be achieving. And fortunately it will work just perfect on type 2.

If you have never messed with the network settings on your router or ps3, then chances are you probably are setup on a Type 3 NAT.

However, I will not take credit for another persons contribution to the gaming world, so in my sources is a link giving you a detailed step-by-step tutorial on how to configure your PS3 to run on a Type 2 NAT.

okay ill look for another..
and did you look at my quote in your leveling shop?

here found one.

1

Open a web browser and type in the IP address of the modem or router connected to the PS3.

2
Choose the security tab, and from the list that appears, remove the check mark for the option "Block Anonymous Internet Requests" and save the settings.

3
Select the "Applications and Gaming" tab. If not already on the "Port Range Forwarding" subsection, select it.

4

Insert the following precisely as listed. Under the "Application" column, name the first blank space "PS3Nat1." The start number should be 80 and the end number should be 80. Then, replace the "0" under "IP Address" for a "1" and select "enable."

5
Insert "PS3Nat2" under the second column of "Application" with the start and end number changed to 443. Again, replace the "0" under "IP Address" for a "1." Then select "enable."

6
Insert "PS3Nat3" under the second column of "Application" with the start and end number changed to 3478. Again, replace the "0" under "IP Address" for a "1." Then select "enable."

7
Insert "PS3Nat4" under the second column of "Application" with the start and end number changed to 3479. Again, replace the "0" under "IP Address" for a "1." Then select "enable."

8
Insert "PS3Nat5" under the second column of "Application" with the start and end number changed to 3658. Again, replace the "0" under "IP Address" for a "1." Then select "enable."

9
Insert "PS3Nat6" under the second column of "Application" with the start and end number changed to 5223. Again, replace the "0" under "IP Address" for a "1." Then select "enable."

10
Save the settings, and the Internet connection for the PS3 should be noticeably faster.
