Post: How do I slow down my ping, or increase latency?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Lag. I don't want to lag switch, I just want to even the playing field a little. I'm playing MW3 and I'm getting some crazy lag, and have been since the release.

Anyway, I've tried Netlimiter, and not only can I not figure out how to get it to work for the PS3, but even if I could it only works for upload and download speeds, not ping or latency. Although if I could trash my upload speed but keep the good download speed it might do something. Not sure though.

Here's the result I got from netlimiter on Internet Explorer:

You can see how the ping is still fairly good. In addition, I've heard Netlimiter has caused the BSOD, so I wanna steer clear of that. Winky Winky

I've also tried Bandwidth Controller, but it didn't install correctly, and I can't seem to get it to work. I don't think it's compatible with Win7 64bit.

So yea, any idea how to slow down that ping?

I know what ping is. What's your point?

Alright, it's pretty complicated, but I seem to have found an answer to the problem. I'll post it for all the people who also have the same problem as I do.

17 is a bad one for me. I'm usually around 10ms. The server I pinged was over 50miles away.

And the uploads and downloads are so slow because that's what I got after I limited my connection with Netlimiter. That's what it does, lol. I posted that to show that it doesn't change the ping, which is what I want. I normally get around 32mb down and 5mb up.

well if net limiter does that id get rid of it  mw3s host selection is shit i have got host 3 times in 2 prestige's and i got 100mb down 25 up. However I can join any game of mw2, bo , cod4 or waw. and I would bet a years salary I pull host. MW3 :yuno: make me host my connection can actually handle a ground war game.

I told it to do that. That's the whole point of the program, however I would have to bridge my PS3 to my computer for it to work on that. Again, it doesn't matter, because it would do very little to solve the problem.

And you're lucky, as you don't want to get host in MW3. Bad, bad things happen. If you really do have 100mb down, and 25 up (seems very unlikely) and you're not getting host, it might be your ping or jitter.

The host picking thing has always been horrible btw. Why do you think the trick to get host in CoD4 was to slow down your connection by uploading videos to youtube? Also, on MW2 we had a friend who had by far the worst connection we had ever seen (1 bar skipping across the map) and he would always get host. ALWAYS.
