PS3 Bluetooth dies after 1 year, oh well. Time to look into a gaming headset.

1st - Turtle Beach P11: wow, I've been missing out. Definitely improved my gaming as far as COSad Awesome S&Awesome face and help react faster around corners. Loved the simple volume features.

*Got 2 big dogs and I play in the living room on a couch that's 6 feet from my HDTV. So this wired setup is killing me.*

2nd - Sony PS3 7.1: not bad, doesn't have as much bass but the complete wireless via USB dongle is winning me over. Takes a bit to pair it with my mac. Battery life is meh (6 hours roughly). Had to buy a 10ft USB cable just in case I want to charge and play. Back to wired (temporarily). Didn't really sound like 7.1 Surround Sound. Cheap feel but super comfortable though.

*PS3 headset adjustment slider breaks after a 3ft drop, like I said, completely plastic setup. I look into Tritton since friends recommended it.*

3rd - Trittons AX Pro: Reminds me of my first headset experience, sharp crisp hi's, awesome bass, back to wired but can't sacrifice real Dolby Digital 5.1. Headset is a bit heavy and not so flexible. Head grip is crazy out the box. Like the extra sound customization on the wire. Very stylish too.

*After 2 weeks and PS3 nearly being pulled out twice from dogs tripping on wires, I consider the Turtle Beach PX5's. Saw all the reviews but overlooked battery support.*

4th - Turtle Beach PX5: Real comfy, top quality sound, DD 5.1 (the works). Liking the presets feature and dual BT support for iPhone music streaming. After one week, 2 pairs of AA's gone. Hmm....gotta buy rechargeable AA's. Headset kept having hiccups with the router, heard they use the same frequency as other home devices. Starting to get annoying.

*Looking for my ideal headset, came across Astro's. Bit expensive but you if you got the money, go straight to the top brands.*

5th - Astro Wireless A40's: Excellent Sound Quality, very comfortable, DD 5.1, mix amp is nicely made with the features I wanted, rechargeable battery option was worth the extra $10, lasts 3 days on a full charge (better battery life than my iPhone) lol, setup is super simple, no more tripping wires, no signal interfering, a bit expensive but well worth it. Can hook up to all platforms plus mobile devices. Love the simple flex lay on your shoulders, like the customizable tags to put my design on, switchable mic position, mix amp can include another headphones via 3.5mm jack, very sturdy material.

After much testing this is how I'd lay out the headsets.

Built-In Features: Turtle Beach PX5 > Astro A40 > Trittons AX PRO > Sony PS3 7.1

Sturdiness: Astro A40 > Turtle Beach PX5 > Sony PS3 7.1 > Trittons AX PRO

Overal Sound Quality: Astro A40 > Turtle Beach PX5 > Trittons AX PRO > Sony PS3 7.1

Pricing: Sony PS3 7.1 ($100) > Trittons AX PRO ($180) > Turtle Beach PX5 ($250) > Astro A40 ($300)

I dont know what to put..
Obviously your opinion. But I would have to put the tritton axpro ahead of px5 any day and for sturdiness again, should be the AxPro's

I enjoyed the AX Pro's, just wished they come out with a wireless version already.

Are you high?
I have the tritton. They are really good and i think they beat the turtle beach any day. All i have to say about this is "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"

Thanks a lot for this, I need to get a new headset this christmas so this is very helpful, for someone that has used all four brands.

I was wondering, do the wires tangle easily on the Trittons? I used to have PX21's and the wires tangled easily, which caused the sound to stop working, and I don't want to have this problem again.

I have never had a problem with the wires, let alone stopping the sound. There are quite a few wires but it works on PC,PS3 and XBOX so i think its a good deal and very worth the money.

Why do people waist there money on axpros? Every singal review I've read and everyone I've asked agrees the 720's are so much better, plus there cheaper. So what do the pros offer that the 720's don't?

I have used both and currently use my AXPro's on a daily basis. The sound from the AXPro's when properly tuned is alot better, you can hear every which way a hell of alot easier(8speakers total). Most people dont know how to fine tune their AXPro's as I had in the beginning, the only difference I seen back then was being able to hear from different directions easier.
Takes time tho to tune them right tho, and a bitch if you forget your settings and your box gets turned off

Aren't the Tritton Ax Pros only fake 5.1 though? There's another Tritton model that really does have 2 or 3 speakers in each cup.
