We said they had planned on revealing at least 3 things. One of which was said to be PS3 Slim, the other a PSP Go price cut (most likely in the form of another model with less internal memory storage), and one last rumor that our source would only say was something being done "for the first time".

Well, we heard back from our source again, and it looks like they decided to go ahead and tell us what that "first time' was.

Our source told us that Sony is planning on announcing firmware 3.0 at the conference, while being very careful to point out that Sony might not release firmware 3.0 on that day, but that they will announce it and detail it's features, possibly in video form. Our source also said it coincides with the release of the new PlayStation Network, however our source didn't go into any detail as to what this new PSN is supposed to feature. Sony did send out some e-mails recently hinting at a new PSN launching on the 18th, so that lends some credibility to these rumors.

We speculate that it could have some premium features. There was talk a while back about a possible premium service where users pay one flat rate to access unlimited downloads (online gaming and all of it's features would still be free though). If the price were right, that's something that many could find very appealing. Hopefully this firmware 3.0 will also come with some of our most sought after features, like cross game voice chat, voice or video messaging, etc.

So, once again, to recap:

PSP Go price cut
PS3 Slim
New PSN
Firmware 3.0

Until the 18th, until Sony says it themselves, treat this as rumor. Have your obligatory pinch of salt with this one.

What I would look forward to is the cross game voice chat and, hopefully listening to music while playing that would be worth paying for i think.

Nice to hear that theyre going to be changing something. I would hope for something premium to know your paying for something really good. Voice chat between games would b very good and so would ingame music!

Why do people still keep asking for ingame music? It's already there. It's the developer's responsibility to implement it into the game.

OMG a flat rate for unlimited downloads! If its $50 dollars then hells yea I'll do it!

What I hope for in the update:
XMB for ALL games (stupid COD3)
Music Access for ALL GAMES (stupid COD5)
A new update time for the PSS (So its before XBOX 360)

I hope after this update most existing games update to in-game xmb music. For most games especially GTAIV this is essential. Having your own music on when you hop into a car is necessary when your used to the xbox and pc versions of gta which have always let us do that. :mad:

hopefully u can change ur psn but free becaz it was free to make tht psn well charge a fee of like 50 cents lol and put a private voice chat like xbox 360 caz thts the coolest

well maybee voice chat becaz sony entertainment AMERICA cant figure it out so they ask japan but in japan the only thing they worry about are the games so they dont help out america sony soo that feature of the voice chat might not come who knows

that would be nice but what we really need is a xmb clan area in it for KZ2 COD4 COD W@W MAG etc. that would be awesome since cod doesnt have one
