My Ps3 Has Become Unuseable ATM, i just bought a ps3 and it had a broken bluray player, so i started formatting the console, then it turned off, i thought it had done, then it turned on in recovery mode, asked me to connect myh controller and press PS button, so i did so, then this popped up...

"The System software cannot be run correctly. Press the PS button to try and restart the system.

If the system cannot be restarted, you must reinstall the system software.
Connect storage media that contains update data of versions 3.70 or later, and then press the START and SELECT buttons at the same time.
For information on how to obtain update data, refer to the SCE Web site for your region."

i pressed PS and restarted it, it brought me back to this screen, i put storage media in (my 2GB pendrive) and it comes up " Checking... Please Wait." then says "The data is corrupted. (8002F2C5)" i tried using OFW 3.70 and OFW 4.00, both came up corrupt, i then turned off the ps3 and put it into recovery mode,

I had the choice of
1. Restart System..... Didt work took me back to previous screen.
2. Restore Default Settings..... Didnt work, went black screen for a while then took me back to previous screen.
3. Restore File System..... Didnt work, went black screen for a while then took me back to previous screen.
4. Rebuild Database..... Didnt work, come up "The hard disk cannot be accessed."
5. Restore PS3 System..... Didnt work, black screened then went to previous screen.
6. System Update..... Didnt work, Does the same thing as before, says checking then gives error (8002F2C5) saying the data is corrupted.

I Have Made Sure The Update is in the correct folders

PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDAT.PUP

I Just Really Need Some Help Please And Thanks To Anyone That Can

make sure the files are right and arent scams.
or go to bestbuy/gamestop/ contact sony and ask someone

i downloaded them from the Official Site.... and i think it's somthing to do with the Blue-ray Drive, Coz i put my HDD into my brothers PS3 and updated using my pendrive and formatted and everything, but when i detach my blueray player, it just stays on the checking... please wait. screen so do i need a new blueray player for it to work?

Try using a BDB FW because the firmware isnt gonna install without a bluraydrive

yea you probably need to fix the blu ray drive. i think gamestop does full system restorations. nomore than 200 bucks

check the ribbon clips on the board and on the drive. make sure none are broken, one of my ps3 had this problem because my ribbon clip broke when i did the ylod fix. had all kinds of problems, blue light stays lit when there was no disc in the system, and it wouldnt even take discs in. i eventually messed with it and got it working, but the main thing was the ribbon on the motherboard. i had to tape the hell out of it and wedge it with a piece of cardboard like paper to keep it in place then tape it. this let me fully fix my system, without a proper BD drive it wont do anything.

Bdb = bluray drive bypass. its a fw that bypass the bluray drive so people without them can update their systems
