I would advise you to check with the rest of your family/whoever is using the internet in your house, other users of the router could easily slow down the connection, if this doesn't work I would advise you to reset the router, unplug it and then turn it back on, this usually works for me with any internet/lag problems, if none of those work, go with scooby and he will sort you out by helping you put on that password

Yeah check to make sure no one is downloading torrents without your knowledge.
Cuz firstly, your ISP will immediately catch on and throttle your speeds if they download too much
within a short period of time. Secondly, you could possibly be expecting a knock at your door for such a thing.
And lastly, make sure its okay with your parents or whoever (if its not your personal router) to put a WEP or WPA key on it.
Because if you don't have one, neighbors can easily access it if in a close vicinity to your home.
