Actually there is a way to change it but you would have to be dedicated to playstation. Or you would have to have a family member who works for playstation.

I don't think Japan users can, they can change their online name which appears in the main menu,messages, etc. but does not change while in online games.

Doubt it they should have a name change feature like xbox but it's like £8 thats quite bad for a name change don't ya think.
