Hope this helps many to get things done as a A good temporary PS3 *GLOD* BLACK SCREEN*BSOD* DISTORTED FREEZE* fix.
This is mainly good to do to get backups, data transfers, deactivation, and more. The ps3 in the video is a CECHE01, some of the
newer phats AND slims have a weaker and to bendable braces which may cause a problem on getting it to apply the pressure needed. I do not have
a way to fix that yet if it does not work this way, but some have said its worked for them.
how to fix GLOD, BSOD, freezes on start up
here is where you can get the t8torx screwdriver
things needed -a small phillips screw driver. a wider and biger phillips
screwdriver. Xbox 360 Controller/Console
& PS3 Slim Torx T8 Security
Screwdriver with Hole
For others your screen will not
look like this, but this is a simple
fix due from switching to hdmi,
just press and hold power until
you here a second start up beep.
After that ill show your how to fix
what i have.
hold till a second beep
Let your PS3 start up, if
it does not show any
picture or sound then
you probrably have the
same issue as mine did.
You will now need your Xbox 360
Controller/Console & PS3 Slim Torx T8
Security Screwdriver with Hole to remove the warranty screw. The screw
to remove is found under the warranty tag.
The case top will slide towards the
bottom of the PS3 to remove.
on some of the older models the
hole the warrenty saftey screw
goes in is removable, becareful not to
loose it when removeing the case.
after removing all
screws...
In the back right corner there is a
tab you press in to pop the case off
smoothly. When reassembling pressure it
out so the case snaps back in place when
you are done. LIFT carfully and make shure
you release the cable!!!!!
You will be looking for the
GPU it says RSX on it, also
its the bigger proccessor
that sits on the heat sink.
you will need to remove and put a
new thin layer of thermal paste on
the CPU and GPU
artic silver is best used, do
this in tiny drops to make
shure you d'nt over do it
mine in the video was
already done. this can be found at radio shack.
Do not buy cheap ones,
some other models you will need
to remove the power supply first
to remove the blu ray!! Just to not get screws mixed
here there are two types of
screws, the power supply and the
usb/& card reader both have
smaller and thinner screws from
what goes on the main board.
Use the thick screwdriver to
loosen up & tighten the CPU
AND GPU clamps to prevent
stripping it.
be very careful with this, it easily
breaks and will need to be shorten if
you do bend it pressing it in to far
and it breaks its metal lines.
Carefully unplug fan and battery,
somtimes the battery socket comes
completly out, use the first two pins
closest to the batter or take note before
removing!!!
Like said earlier its the RSX you
want, BUT you want put four pennies
carefully
on it, MAKE SHURE YOU PUT
NEW THERMAL PASTE!!
take some electrical tape over the
holes for the GPU brace, and cut
open to fit the screw
screw back threw. its saftey from
the pressure making contact.
evenly start tighting the GPU
brace. you may have to come
back and tighten one side more
to completly get this to work! do
not over tighten them. when it
feels like its stopped, it means its
reached the furthest it can go.
put a penny in the middle under
the brace also to help get extra
pressure from the plates.
tighten up the GPU like crazy BUT, tighten
the CPU ONLY MID WAY, too loose
and it acts like its over heated and blows
the fan off crazy, to tight it
pressures out a ylod foney.
reassemble but stop before
screwing it back to the case
CAREFULLY RE-INSERT
THE POWER EJECT
SWITCH !!
test to see if it powers on for a
minute, then turn off and test
again to make shure its ready. if
not! , slowly tighten onside of
the GPU more then try again
carefully reassembly and get what you want
done before it repeats, but you will only
need to tighten it, if it does it again.

Nice tutorial. But it's not working for me I did the penny trick. But it's still glod. I can go into the recovery menu but can't rebuild my data base. It says the system storage can't be accessed. I really want it fix. I can't even put a new firmware on it

well if you can get into recovery menu and not rebuild data base dont you think thats a hdd fail not a black screen of death from a graphics fail. try another hdd is probrably your only problem
I put a new hard drive in but it still don't work. Every time I turn it on I see nothing on my screen . And it still say can't access the storage. I'm on a cechg01 ps3 4.21.2 rebug dex. I can't even install a firmware it' says it corrupted even original firmware I put on my USB

are you using another DEX firmware? IF your not using another dex firmware then you can not update. then again if your using a rex firmware then you will need a CEX firmware. and then if you did all of this converseron with out a e3 or progskeet then you might have not finished a modified memory and have screwed up the conversion.
Nope just dex 4.21.2 rebug. This is what happen I use ps3ita 1.40 manager on my rebug what supposly works for rebug. But then I use it for about 5 min to change my console Id. But when i came out of the ps3ita manager. I couldn't sign in. But this was because I had to put my ps3 back in rebug mode. But when I put it back in rebug mode. My froze so I restarted it. But after that it started not showing video or audio. I thought this wan bsod. But when I restored my ps3 it still had the same problem so it wasn't bsod. It was glod I believe I tried the penny trick but it did not work. So I believe it might be the chips it self. But if you can help me I would be really happy. I don't got a e3 flasher.

Idk if changing the consoles id fully was good to do and not have ways to restore the internal memory of the original. not much i could do if you dnt have the original back up of the internal memory either and if its not compatible with e3 i can not do anything more to help.
You been a great help to me I'm not going to lie. And now for some reason when I go to rebuild database it don't say I need storage anymore it just stayes on the preparing...Please wait screen but thank you very much
