Ok i got a 60GB Playstation 3
It recently got the ylod but i know how to fix it my fix lasted a month but i need longer what am i doing wrong
i get alcohol wipe and wipe the CPU and GPU till there shiny and i do it to the heat sink
i get No Clean Flux and put it in all the sides on the CPU and GPU and get a 350 degree heat gun heat the board up so its worm to avoid cracks and then i worm the CPU For about 10min then i wait for it to cool down
When the board has cooled down i get gold thermal compound and put a thin layer on the CPU and GPU and then i put square copper shims on the CPU and GPU and on the copper shims i put a thin layer on the gold thermal compound
and the ps3 lasts a month and thats it i got a 16 bladed fan shall i get a cooling fan for it? also the the fan get so loud on it aswell i took it apart and cleaned all the dust out of it and its in a open space aswell
have you ever tried put some coins on top the heatsink(i think it was the heatsink) , the idea is that the metal coins will conducted the heat from the heat sink allowing it to stay cooler.
also slightly different approach , try to dust inside the ps3 case really well , as laying dust can cause components to overheat.
one other thing you could try is to buy an external fan for the ps3 to increase cooling power.
Ok I recently repaired my mgs4 limited edition 80gb this was my third time ..figured out why it wouldnt last long ..it was the amount of artic silver compound I was using.. you can't use to much or to little gotta be perfect..
