Post: My Ps3 won't update
04-06-2012, 06:28 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); When I turn on my Ps3 it tells me to connect the controller and press the Ps3 button then press start and select to check for system software when I do everything the Ps3 tells me to do it doesn't update show some error and tell me to contact technical support.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also if I use another HDD from a Ps3 with firmware 3.15 will that solve this problem or do I send it to get fixed?

Try doing a reset of your PS3. Hold it down for two beeps, and that resets it to default settings. It usually solves
simple errors like this too. If not try going into recovery mode, and rebuilding the PS3's system files. It'll clean up anything
that could be corrupted :y:

I already did that and the Ps3 HDD can't be corrupted since it's a new HDD. also when I go into recovery mode and try to rebuild the Ps3 file system it tells me that the HDD can't be accessed.

What firmware are you on? Also try updating through a USB if you haven't already

Is the HDD one specifically for a PS3 or did you just get a PC one that would fit? It may be the wrong power input/output

No I'm currently using a old 120gb HDD from my laptop but I still have the old 40gb HDD that came with the Ps3 but that one also has nothing on it as well.

The Ps3 tells me to update to 3.15 or later
Updating via usb is the only way I can update it and that method failed more then twice.
