Hold the power button before you scan.
I know the madcatz bluetooth headset you had to make it flash in a certain order for the PS3 to detect it.
Sometimes the PS3 picky and won't pick up a headset before that.

Make sure the device is in discovery mode, then when the Ps3 picks it up, enter the password which by default, is 0000
