i "HAD" a working ps3 but it goes red ...no it wasn't modded at all so it couldn't have bricked by any means of a dongle or a cfw attempt.
At first i said to my self YLOD but when i took it in for repairs they couldn't get it to run after they did the initial repair ..they even went as far as switching the power box in the system and still ..RED light so now i believe the system may have an internal self brick? or a motherboard component maybe damaged or it just died.

so what am trying to say is should i sell the parts in side o scrap the whole thing ...

btw. its a ps3 <(FAT)> 40 gig CECH H01 ...i do know the 40 gig hard drive works and the laser inside works too

I'd say to pull anything/everything from it that works and try to sell them individually. You should be able to sell the laser without a problem.

Just sell the whole thing . You'd be surprised to see how many people buy broken PS3s.
