i believe its the KES-410. i had to replace mine which was a 40gb as well and the place i got it from said the kes 410 was the only one for it. but apparently some are special and have no replacement bluray drives (like mine). so i had to buy a new ps3.

how do i know if mine is like yours and cant be replaced before i waste my money?

you could try calling them and asking for the technician that works on the consoles that are sent in. she'll ask you for serial numbers of the ps3 and ask if you can send pictures to make sure that it's the right part.

Yeah I would be careful, the 40GB's also used KES-400AAA. Could be either or.
