My ps3 I play online with had the ylod, searched and searched for different type of temporary fixes and the only one that worked for me was the Blow Dryer high heat for 15mins, ps3 flipped upside down while heating, then blow dry on cool for 20mins, it came right on. The bad thing is that in the mean time I updated my Jailbroken ps3 in order to play on line. Didn't really use it much anymore anyway but it does suck.

i have a cousin who successfully fixed his using the heat gun method. i think the oven would be risky.

I did both method on one of my PS3, the first time it last a couple month with the heat gun, the second time it last about three weeks with the oven method. I give up on it, I put it away, then after a few month later I turn it on to get the disk out that I forgot it stuck inside when it had a ylod, it came back on normal. But didn't last long, maybe four hours or so. I recommend get it reballs, it last much longer.
