(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey I have a ps3 running 3.55 I bought on craigslist. The Faggot i bought it from scammed me because he said it worked fine even though it gets REALLY hot like the fan kicks into 100%. I felt the Power supply and it ALMOST gets hot enough to burn me. I touched the CPU after a little while of unscrewing stuff like about 8 minutes and it didn't feel warm. Do you think I should get a power supply. I don't want to try and find out because This Jackass I bought it from took $100 from me and I really don't have enough money to "embitterment" with it... Oh and if your wondering why I am not returning it, it is because he supposedly changed his number. If you guys want to "Expierment" and find his address for me so i tell his ass off that would be great.
All Help is Apprerciated!

Eh, if the fans went a-wall then it's most likely a thermal problem, you unsrewing it won't do any better and also be sure to keep it in a well ventilated area, I keep two large fans behind mine:fyea:, but when you say power supply? You're talking about the cord? That's most likely not the problem making it hot. Probably bad thermal paste, I had a problem with the heat sink on my computer once, took a dab of toothpaste, put it on and she works like a champ, but I don't suggest doing that for a PS3.

If you are talking about the internal power supply, (like on a computer) then you are probably right about it getting really hot. A few people around seems to think that is the major problem with PS3's and why you get the YLOD. The reason behind it is because resistors inside the power supply goes bad and then the power supply starts putting out to many volts and the whole system gets really hot. I really don't know if that is the case or not that is just what some people think. Some people also modify the power supply and say it is the best thing they have done.

I would replace the power supply if it gets that hot, because it sits right on top of the motherboard where the GPU is located.

If it gets that hot I would change it. While its tore down its not a bad ideato put some new paste and if it needs it aswell.
