Post: 720p vs 1080i : PS3 / Explained / Comparsion

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Explanation:

p means progressive, 60 frames(100%) per second
i means interlaced, that means there are 30 frames(50%) chaning so fast, so we see 60(100%) but it's actually 30.

720p gives us 100% image at a standard hd size
1080i give us 50% image but at 1080p size, we see it in a second but its easy to feel something's wrong.

HOW TO UNDERSTAND EITHER IT'S INTERLACED OR PROGRESSIVE.

Take your camera (any). Get to your TV. Now point it at your screen. If the image is still, it's progressive. If there are the lines goin' on and flashes its Interlaced.

720p is better for:
-Healthy gameplay(won't hurt your eyes)
-Any active games
-Recording PS3

1080i is better for:
-Still Images

Consoles games don't even play at 1080p. They use 600p games that are upscaled to 720p/1080i

If you upscale it past that it looks stretched and distorted.

Of course some exclusives use 1080i naively. The only true 1080p on the PS3 is Blu-ray.

That's why 720p is the best at the moment, not saying 1080p is perfect. I have got 1080p, have done this for those who have only those 2
