2 years ago my fat ps3 broke, i pushed the power cable too hard and it screwed the power thing anyway could i take the harddrive from old ps3 to my normal ps3 which is on 4.20 will the hardrive keep the 3.00 update?
so what im asking is will the harddrive keep his old update and then could i put the harddrive to the other ps3 and will i still get the old update on my normal ps3? does the harddrive holds the update if not then idk fuk itSmile sorry if its hard to understandSmile

No, it'll make you format plus the update is stored on the Nand or NOR

Demmonnixx is right, the firmware is stored on your ps3's nand (or nor) chip. Basically every time you update your ps3, it saves the state its at and remembers the last firmware update installed. So if you put the 3.00 hard drive in your ps3, it would say you need to install a firmware update of the firmware you currently have installed or later. I once had this same idea too!

But anyway, the best way to go would be to just try fixing the ps3 yourself! I've had (and sold) 5 3.55 ps3s this year just by fixing them with basic knowledge!
