(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ive read afew common posts on this subject so i thought id write some tips on how to reobtain your PSN account back should it have been stolen by someone. This tutorial covers afew most common mistakes people and hackers make.
So for example lets say youve given your account to someone who claims they can do something for you, the most common reason being a prestige hack. You notice there taking their time and you get worried, so you log into the account only to find that you cant log on.
THE BREAKDOWN
The most common thing they do for starters is change the password, if there smarter theyll also change the email address. When this happens you only have limited options depending primarily on 3 differnt things. The more information you have/remember/own then the easier it will be to reclaim your account, even if all the details have been changed. If you do not have this information then im afraid its pointless reading on or even calling PSN as you cannot reclaim your account without proving its yours.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW

#1) Whether you still have the email address associated with the PSN account and if its a legitimate email address.
#2) Whether you remember the account details associated with the account
(DOB POSTCODE/ZIPCODE/NAME/EMAIL ADDRESS/HOME ADDRESS/SECRET QUESTION ANSWER)
#3) And thirdly if you dont remember any of it then youll have to contact playstations customer support, the number can be found for your region in the back cover of any PS3 games booklet. Note that in order to reclaim any account through customer support you will still need to know the details from #2 to verify your validity.
METHOD 1
So lets cover how to reclaim it assuming you have all these details, now its a matter of determining what the hacker has changed. I recommend starting with this step first. If hes logged into your account and only changed your password then on the PSN network button on your PS3 before you log in click on "Forgot your password" and take the necessary steps in resetting it. If thats all hes changed then a request form for resetting your password will be issued and sent to your email address accordingly.

IF IT FAILS then youve also determined hes also changed your email address as well. The next part requires abit of luck, quite commonly people who steal an account might only change the email address to it ONCE, if theyve changed it TWICE then you cannot recover this account and will have to refer back to #3 by contacting customer support.
METHOD 2
Log into the email address associated with the account, inside you will find a notification email from Sony stating that your details have been changed. Within this email it will also tell what the email address has been changed to, this is important so look carefully and you will find the new email address associated with YOUR psn account. Copy the email address down and go back to your PS3 and head back to the PSN network login. Instead of your original email address type the address which its been changed to, then click on forgot password again and continue the steps from before in resetting your account. Naturally if the hacker has changed the email address to it more then once then you cannot recover it this way as you would not have recieved the new message from Sony stating what the new address is to recover your account.

Finally rather then going back and forth to the psn network to "Forgot your password" and resetting your password you can also go to You must login or register to view this content. and do everything from there by logging into there system with your details.

I know full well how annoying and frustrating it can be so i hope this helps someone

Or just use a decent password and don't get SE'd or Ratted. I understand this is to help those that have already lost their acc's but honestly, if they are stupid enough to use the same pass for everything, get SE'd or DL a virus they deserve to have something hacked in order to teach a lesson and be more careful. Anyway good tut, nice layout Smile

I agree, im associated with a clan that has had up to 100 members in the past. Ive maxed out the PSN account limit on 3 PS3s as a result as this has on afew occassions for me where ive had to get accounts back for people. It does piss me off that people can be so gullible or leave easy to hack passwords that can be cracked quite easily. One of the most common most annoying passwords ive seen quite often for some dumb reason is the word qwerty12345 or even worse your account name with a 1 at the end.
