Post: Better connection through Wifi?
10-01-2012, 09:48 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have had my ps3 for about 4 years now, and i have never had the best internet connection, but just recently my family moved our modem and router right next to my room. I host challenge lobbies and that stuff so having a good connection to be host is very important. For the past 2 years i have been unplugging my modem and bringing it into my room for a direct connection which has been the only way i can host right now and is very inconvenient. Now that my router/ modem are close, my ps3 says it has a 100% connection, but for some reason, it still does not let me host through wifi. does anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it? Thanks!
And i have tried this other places with other wifi connections and i am still unable to host :/

How many Mbps does your Internet allow?

Just because you have 100% does not mean that it will be good. Wired is always better than wifi to a certain degree. May be less convenient than wifi but your ping increases with wifi and your speed decreases.

Edit: I mean there sometimes can be a minor difference in between the two. But from my experience and those of others I know about we see on average 10-30ms+ (minimum) added to our ping when using wifi.

Check your NAT settings ,internet speeds do not have any connection for hosting lobbies, unless you have a 512kbs connection. NAT must be open or low level to enjoy full benefit of multiplayer and matchmaking!!!

First go to test your internet connection in settings you will see your nat type

Here are the types and their benefits

Type 1: Connected directly to the Internet ,great everything is fine full multiplayer

Type 2: Connected to the Internet via a router , OK matchmaking features may or may not be available

Type 3: Connected to the Internet via a router, fucked up no multiplayer , lag disconnections etc

If you have nat 3
forward The port numbers for PlayStation®Network servers.They are TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480, 5223, 8080 and UDP: 3478, 3479.
