This can be a few things. Try different cords. if your on hdmi(which it looks like) try a new cord. Hdmi/av port went bad/needs to be resoldered. Or the gpu is going out....

i think it might be the second of the 2 because my slim doesnt freeze like that it just sometimes gets a bad signal read and i have to reset the visual settings but ill try running off the pvr and i guess if that doesnt work ill go get the gpu reballed / replaced thanks man!

k so i swapped the cords over to standard av instead of HDMI and similar result except this time the visual froze however i could still hear the sound of the controller working so do you reckon this is a gpu problem and that it will either need to be reballed/ a new one put in and if so whats the cost of that roughly

everyones prices are different...sony is 125. or people on ebay will for about 50 bucks
