Post: Elgato or HD PVR?
12-06-2012, 01:50 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So i want to start recording clips on my ps3 (cod4, mw2, mw3, both black ops) and i need a recording device to, well, record these. The thing is, i don't know whether to choose the Elgato or the HD PVR. I've heard great reviews and stuff from both devices, but don't know which one is better for me. Which one do you guys think would be a better option based on reliability, efficiency, or personal experience? Or maybe you can reccommend an even better device rather than these? Thanks in advance and sorry if this thread is in the wrong section or anything like that.

Mystery
It's still a Mystery!
Elgato . Newer = better ; It has HDMI plug so quality is better . Go for it if you forgot to record something it has 1 hour of memory

Well, i did some research, and the Elgato comes packed with something called a "Playstation 3 Cable." I'm not sure but i think that this could bypass the record protection. Does anyone know if it does?

Also the OP was just saying a HD PVR which stands for high definition personal video recorder which isn't a specific brand so if you do want to point him in the right direction about as i don't know much about this stuff he would probably like to know more stuff.

Well with ps3 having protection from recording with hdmi it doesn't really matter which one the ps3 cable that comes with the elgato is just a component cable with a hdmi end and a component in for the ps3. The same thing comes with the hdpvr2, I have it

The HD PVR records in HD also. I have one and its brilliant! 1080p Quality. If I was you I'd buy the HD PVR.
