(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey guys, hopefully this tutorial will help people with online gaming and I apologize in advance if this has already been posted or it's in the wrong section.

This tutorial will hopefully improve your connection by a lot - I accidentally discovered it when trying to fix my router.
This tutorial was written using a NETGEAR DG384Gv5 router.

Step 1:
Assign your PS3 a static IP address, to do this refer to this guide: You must login or register to view this content.

Step 2:
In your PS3 "Network Settings" disable UPNP

Step 3:
Either place your PS3 in DMZ or Forward the ports you need to in your router, I am using a NETGEAR router so to open my router I have to browse to You must login or register to view this content.

To DMZ:

• In the side menu select "WAN Setup"
  
• Check the box that says "Default DMZ Server"
  
• Enter your PS3 IP address (Available from Network Settings > Settings and Connection Status List)
  
• Press "Apply"
  

To port forward:

• Select "Services" from under the "Content Filtering" section
  
• Click "Add Custom Service"
  
• Name the service something relevant, if you require more than port to be forwarded then I recommend naming it something like "Service-1", "Service-2", etc..
  
• Select "Firewall Rules" from the "Content Filtering" section
  
• Press "Add" under "Inbound Services"
  
• Select the service from the drop down list
  
• Make sure "Action" is set to "ALLOW always"
  
• Enter your PS3 IP Address in "Send to LAN Server"
  
• (Repeat previous steps if more than one service is required to be forwarded)

Step 4:

• Select "QoS Setup" from the "Advanced" section
  
• Check "Turn Internet Access QoS On" if it's not already checked
  
• Delete all unused services from the list
  
• Press "Add Priority Rule"
  
• Select "MAC Address" from the "Priority Category" dropdown
  
• Enter the MAC Address of your PS3 and set the priority to "Highest"
  
• In the "QoS Policy for" box type "Playstation 3" and then after everything is filled in press "Add"
  
• Press "Apply"
  

Step 5:
On your PS3 "Network Settings" change your DNS settings to "Manual" - Please note that you must be using the "Custom" setup option in order to do this.

Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

Save your settings.

Now restart your console and you should have a much smoother gaming experience!

Nice guide! When getting the DNS(s) from Time Warner Cable, they were being real anal about it. I recommend, if you guys have TWC, to argue the shit out of them; make their day horrible.
