Got to remember, the AI in those games has great reaction times. So if they're driving straight through you, it's most likely you're holding a line through a turn. Side-by-side is just a "bit of rubbin, and rubbin is racin."
I like the 5 second penalty, because it makes you a better driver, especially when going H2H with a real person. The bump and run is the most pansy-butt manuevuer in GT and I'm glad they did something about it. This game is more then likely going to have some online modes and I'm sure it'll be implemented so we don't have "slam into the guy as he enters the corner" match.
The whole point of that penalty was so the game makers didn't have to create a "car damage system". In the "most realistic driving simulation", it only makes sense. In this upcoming game as well, I heard there was supposed to be a damage system, but I wonder how they'll implement it? I hope it just penalizes the driver who hits the other guy, but if I'm running in first and some jackass is driving the course backwards, it'll completely Frick my race.
