That works, I tried it several times myself and can comfirm that. It's pretty epic.

Sony cant handle the transfer of data to a different name. They have explained the Reasoning to me many times.

You could only change your display name, not you actual PSN name... and they cant even do that anymore :P

Sony did not create PSN with the mindset that a user would want to change their name and keep all progressed tied to the account. The architecture was built around the idea that people would use the standard user name process (hence no spacing) and that all data would be linked to one account (games, achievements,backlog,etc).. it basically made everything easier for Sony to go about things this way. PSN-Japan had the option to change display names but it was not very useful at all (the name change could only be seen in the friends list).

Being able to change your PSNID would be cool in all but why bother? Just make a new account or get a 360.

Most people always want what Japan has but when they get it, they act like damn fools with it. Just be happy with the cool stuff y'all got on your PS3 which isn't available for us in Japan with Japanese PS3s. I would love for that Youtube and Netflix to work but it doesn't.
