Post: If i chage my old ps3 hdd to my new ps3 will it be formatted ?

I have a 60gb ps3 but recently lost it to yellow lights :( .Not to worry i have pre ordered a 80gb ps3 from game but i am a bit worried about my games saves. I havent back up most of the ( basically i want my prestige 8 cod4 save lol :P).I was wondering if i dont even turn my 80gb ps3 on switchs the hdd would that trick the ps3 . would it make it think that it was a brand new hdd ???I also own a SATA to USb2.0 plug . If i just plug that into the 80gb would my ps3 be albe to read it ? please help :P thanks

All online data for call of duty 4 is saved by the servers of call of duty, so you WILL keep the 8 prestige level on call of duty 4 as long as you use the same Playstation Network Username.

Switching HDD doesn't trick the PS3. The harddrive is the one with the gamesaves, music, videos, pictures, saved information. I don't know what else you are talking about, so I can't help you more.

Also whenever the HDD light is flashing (Yellow Light), do not turn off your PS3 from the back. Just to be safe, turn off your ps3 from the front by the touchscreen button. Once its solid red, then turn it off from the back.
