Darksiders is a video game being developed by Vigil Games. The game takes its inspiration from the apocalypse, and battle of armageddon described in the Book of Revelation, a chapter in the Christian Bible. The player takes the role of "War", one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse!

Storyline:
The apocalypse has just taken place prematurely, and the world destroyed, and War finds himself tasked to find out who was behind this; caught in a battle between angels and demons, he has lost much of his power, and must find out where the other horsemen are, and who misled them into starting the final battle.

Gameplay:
Darksiders is primarily a combat action game, with weapons like giant swords and miniguns available!! "War" can also regain his powers throughout the game, and rides his own horse called Ruin.

The powers and horse which "War" must regain play an important role in the game, as they enable him to access areas of the world which would otherwise be locked off. There's a wrath meter, similar to the musou gauge in the "Dynasty Warriors" series, which fills up as "War" fights, and gives access to powered-up and special moves.

Action takes place both underground, where puzzles play a large role, and above ground in which free roaming is allowed.

Although early impressions have led journalists to compare the game to God of War and Devil May Cry due to its strong combination of combo based sword combat and guns, designer Joe Madureira has likened it to The Legend of Zelda series. I'm a fan of all 3 of these games, so ticks all my boxes!!

There is talk of a sequel already, with supposedly online gameplay and an elaborate plot.

I think i will be renting this one, as there is no online gameplay. Hopefully the sequel won't take too long to release!

(Play.com gave a full review of this game in their December 2009 edition, i'm pretty sure it's got 10/10 at the moment!)

Looks fun, but I would never buy it. This sort of reminds me of God of War 2. A former immortal character, stripped of their power, must somehow take revenge. Of course, this is a little more in depth with War being deceived and all, but still...

I might rent it.

I'm not sure on a demo/beta as of yet. I can look into it for you, but i doubt there will be one tbh.

@ Darksun: Yeh i don't think i'll buy this as there's no online feature. But i will be renting it to clock the storymode!

Got too play this earlier on my mates 360 gonna have to get this great game dam so many games and army of Two 40 days out same day too many games not enough hours in a day

loved this game an really hope they bring a second one out, if anything its kinda like a god of war game with the basics of the story but still a great game, it was a nice game to get into before god of war came out because this game had me hooked big time, i can only imagine how much i will play god of war 3 when it comes out

darksiders is a bad azz game, no online, but who cares..theres plenty of other games that offer online..god of war wont be online..i bet people will rush to that..hmm, darksiders is basically an exact mesh of soul reaver and god of war...and when u climb stuff..reminds me of uncharted 2...great game..one of the best ive bought for ps3
