(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I just got the god damn YLOD and it blows.... there is speculation that it is due to MW2... anyone else feeling the same?

Idk but i think it is because people bought there ps3's when it first came out and it just happened to get worn out when modern warfare 2 came out.

hmm....iv had my ps3 since the day ps3s came out and have had no failures
although the slim (i think) has some updated parts so mw2's requirements could be wearing down the older models ???

It is most likely MW2... the game has so much content and lacks a mandatory (or even optional) data install. This is the game that killed my BD laser.

YLoD is caused by overheating. Games could be a part of it but probably not.
Maybe having a crappy air flow and playing on the console too much can heat the motherboard and make the joints around the CPU & GPU dry out.
All you need to do is get a heatgun and heat up the parts around the CPU & GPU and apply some thermal paste (non silicone based) and put your ps3 back together and it should be fixed. There are plenty of tutorials, but there are more people claiming they can fix it for £50+ just to do that method....
