With the new Elgato HD60, you cannot record on ps3. This is because of Sony's HDCP protection. But, if you use an hdmi splitter, you can strip the HDCP protection off, and record like normal. Please note that only some splitters actually split the HDCP. The one I am using does.

What you need:

  • HD60
  • Viewport HD Splitter/Orie Splitter
  • 3 HDMI Cables
  • Common Sense

Part 1

  1. Take a HDMI Cable, and plug it into the "Import" Part of the splitter
  2. Then, take the other end of that same cable, and plug it into your ps3
  3. Take a new HDMI cable, and on the "Output" section, put the cable into one of the spots
  4. Then plug the other end of the cable we just used into your T.V
  5. Now, we have one cable left. Plug one end into the "Output" section
  6. Then, take the other end, and plug into the SAME end of the Elgato that the little power cord goes into

Part 2
Now we are going to set up the computer program part. With this part, you kinda have to mess around a bit. You may need to change the device from a ps3, to a ps4 or xbox 1. Its kinda tricky, so just mess around with it.
