if you follow those videos, you are voiding your warranty and then if the ps3 is in fact effed, you cant send it back, then your back 400 bucks. send it in, and get it fixed the right way.

I got YLOD couple days ago. I'm probably just gonna buy a new one but I don't know what to do with my old one though. Should I just sell it now or should I have Sony fix it/send me refurbished one and then sell it? Also are there any PS3 models immune to the yellow light of death? My warranty expired over a year ago by the way.

From what i know the YLOD happens to almost every Playstaition 3 system after you have it for 14 / 15 months can depend , then again , those who have their PS3 left on for quite some time (Full time gamers) who dont just use it now and then are most common to it happening as it overheats which causes the YLOD , It's also 50% of the time "General Hardware Failure" which could mean a bunch of different things i do not know them all so i'm not going to even say but 1 thing relating to that general hardware failure would be not turning your system off Via the touch power or the remote , a rare amount turn it off via the back power which causes it , but for sure NOBODY here can say that they know what causes this as nobody really can figure out what causes these different ring of light combinations with gaming consoles , one things also for certain if you DO ring sony they must take it back because it was not your fault that it crapped out on you can im 97% sure they'll replace it for you (no need for warranty's what so ever) as my brother also did , hope everything works out for you anyways. :rolleyes:
