Electronic Arts and DICE made several announcements with regard to the future of the surprisingly successful multiplayer aspect of Battlefield: Bad Company. The Bad Company website has posted news articles over the last week detailing what players can expect.



First and foremost, the leaderboards have been expanded from 50,000 slots to 500,000 slots. Hopefully you can fit this time. Next is the announcement that EA is handing out codes to three of the five unlockable weapons that were previously attainable only through certain pre-launch promotions.



Those who enjoy the Recon Kit and want to get their hands on the QBU88 can enter "your3mynextt4rget" for the unlock. Special Ops gurus who need to spray down baddies with an UZI can do so by entering "cov3r1ngthecorn3r." If you enjoy more of a supporting role and want to get your hands on the massive M60, just enter "try4ndrunf0rcov3r." Note that the USAS12 weapon for the Demo Kit can easily be unlocked by checking your stats on the aforementioned Bad Company website. The only weapon of the original five to remain locked is the reward for joining EA's Veteran's program.



The next announcement is that an update is soon to be released along with a map pack that will include Acta Non Verba and Par For The Course from the campaign, but fitted for multiplayer use. No news as to what the cost of the map pack will be.



The update, which we'll assume will be free, will include a fix for both server and Dog Tag lag. PS3 users can look forward to some expanded VOiP (Voice Over Internet Protocal) support and the hopeful elimination of the muting problem that some have been experiencing. The PlayStation 3 version will also be seeing the addition of trophies in the next month or so.



The last announcement glorifies the success of Bad Company and praises its online community, stating that over 250,000 hours are spent playing BF:BC each week. For the rest of the statistical rundown, click here.
