If they stopped supporting PS3 then they would probably shut down the servers then jailbroken consoles would be useless .

i dont think they would be useless
when otheros was available a lot of people took advantage of that
theres also a few other features that only jailbroken consoles can enjoy

now as far as modding online yeah that would be pointless as there wouldnt be anyone to play with.. sorry i thought that was assumed in my question

not really, I use my jailbroken ps3 to play alot of ps2 and ps1 games.

theirs tons of fun to have offline with all these features of a jailbroken ps3!!\

Or you could turn it into a Linux operating system!!
