(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); In yesterday's analyst day at Activision, they mentioned some things in passing that are meant to stoke investor interest but they might have opened up a big-old can of worms.

The good/bad is the statement that Activision wants to "increased online monetization of Call of Duty franchise". How you ask? How about 3x the DLC of COD4. This sounds great but does this mean they will support the game with new ADDITIONAL content or does this mean they will keep the content tight and sell a game that out of the box is finished too quickly?

Even more controversial is what Activision call the "Day One Advantage." This is a "feature" that a gamer can purchase that will accelerate their experience point earning. Instead of slogging through the ranks, you can essentially just pay a couple of bucks to help you fly through it.

Now COD4 had a pretty easy ranking system that wasn't hard to get through. Before you knew it at the end of the first week everyone was a General. Now Activsion sees the opportunity to monetize this for the lazy gamers that need that sawed-off shotty sooner rather than later.

For many this will be great, something else Mom and Dad can buy for them. For others, this is nothing more than a developer sanctioned hack.

Now, if the weapons are balanced as they always stress they are, this will not really do any damage. However, if the higher ranked weapons are superior, this is going to skew the game right out of the box and likely hurt the near-term prospects of the game.

Time will tell.

i was thinking of buying cod5 but this just makes me not want to buy it anymore sure its in WWII but that didnt make a difference on me like all the N00Bs who think just because its in WWII its gonna suck ass now i KNOW the online will suck ass but am still thinking of buying it for SP

U know, I think I actually will buy it for Campaign cause of all the cool new weapons such as a flame thrower...and might play online...Dunno...Depends on how many Gay Ass people will buy there ranks and kill everyone when they barely know how to crouch :rolleyes:

Just the point that they leeched COD4 Engine (with premision yea...)

They even do the
3 kills = a Recon Plain (UAV)
5 kills = Infantry (Airstrike)
7 kills = Killer Dogs (WTF!?!?!)

Because they couldn't get that out of the system, and the dogs... wtf!

and my other reason is: There are so much other games coming soon like: SOCOM: Confrontation, Little Big Planet etc. so im not planning to buy COD5, gonna wait for COD6 as long its not gonna be: Future Warfare... That shouldn't be that much fun but ok, i spread my word.
