Sony has decided to give everyone a heads up in the direction of their respective PlayStation 3 consoles. A new firmware update was just released (version 2.43), although it has been noted to be specific to the Japan.

While those in the said region will be the only ones prompted to update their firmware, this shouldn't cause any issues for those users outside of Japan who choose to install the new firmware. You can manually update your system by choosing the "System Update" option found under the XMB's Settings icon.

we ant gona get that update

Hey guys,

I just downloaded the optional firmware 2.43 and the system actually seems more resposive. Anyway, I booted up Gran Turismo 5 and was browsing around the options when I noticed something interesting: When you uncheck the "Disable Advanced Downloading" it asks you to "accept" or "decline"

In the past you used to get a warning message saying this feature would be enabled in a future firmware update. Well this message no longer pops up. I guess now we know what the firmware update did in addition to speeding up the XMB.

new news from sony beta community
