You will sign online but when you join there will never be anyone in any the lobbies you will be able to sign in to psn and see people online but there ranks and stuff won't show up in game and you won't be able to join them. This is because nat type is set to type 3 or strict.

To resolve this issue go to your network settings and retrieve you Mac address and IP address call the front desk and ask them for there technical support for there network call the network and tell them you need the nat type changed for your Mac address to open or type 2 so you can play a console online and they will change it. I have seen at a cheap hotel roadway the ps3 console made the internet not work for everyone except the person with the console online. Now at a residence inn a upper class hotel where you can pay with for faster bandwidth they have a lot of ports closed and allow you 2 to 8 Mbps you pay for the upgrade and get ten Mbps. The roadway hotel made the person with the console actually leave the hotel so many people where complaining about the WiFi being down and the girls working off the back page site couldn't work off there pos phones that didn't have plans and were using the WiFi they were getting mad. The upper class hotel/apartments residensee inn and Hyatt house the network people with open ports and change your nat type so you can get online and play.

Also I would like to add most locations when you connect to there server they have a login prompt so you won't be able to just connect to psn right away you will first have to open you browser and type in a URL like google then hit enter and you will get redirected to there login prompt to accept to there terms.
