i know you can set objectives with the "D-Pad" down arrow. what else and how do you do them?

if you have the game it should be in the book that;s in the case

I could do with knowing too.
I got a promo copy so no manual.

hit start to bring up the map move the cross hair to your desired angle of attack on a objective and press X and in your screen & your squads screen there will be a waypoint letting them now the best angle to attack from

uav, cluster bomb...

If you are defending : Guided Artillery (Best used when aimed at a vehicle)
: Mortar Barrage (You need to have a mortar battery for both of these abilites.Mortar Barrage is similar to the cluster bombs.)
If you are attacking : Cluster Bombs (A plane bombs a target in a single pass and I reccomend you use it only if the enemy AAA Battery is down)
: UAV Recon (Scans for enemy for a brief period.Will be shot down if enemy has AAA)

You can use these by pressing down button or pressing select then R1.

It´s not the start button, it´s the SELECT button.
