i am considering buying SW but since the simple mods available are for the most part redundant to me, these are the aspects I’d be most looking into with SW.

No it's not possible, MHW is quick mode only which means advance mode is locked out,

If you want to be invincible get the Uragaan 3 piece set bonus of Guard UP and combine that with Guard +3 or Guard+5 and use a lance or a gun lance. You will be able to tank the majority of the hits and even withstand Xeno's deathray breath by just putting up your shield.
