Hey there,
I’m recently coming back to gaming on the PS4 since my parents decided to sell my old one without my knowledge, along with all the save data on it.
I was on 13% progress with Just Cause 3, but the other achievements don’t bother me so much as not having to redo story missions that I've already done. At this stage, based on the cursory research I've done, all I know for certain is the following:
- How to use a USB to transfer files to the PS4
- That PS4 game saves are locked to consoles (users?) and need to be "resigned" to work for other consoles/users
- That Game Wizard is software that allows you to resign PS4 game saves
- That Game Wizard costs my entirely weekly salary and is therefore out of my budget
What else do I need to know to be able to get hold of a game save and use it on my own system? Is it just a case of requesting a game save in the appropriate forum here? I'm far from technically inept and I've dabbled in homebrew, programming and generally hacking things together/apart for a long time, but I'm just wanting to know whether what I want to do is at all possible, and if so, how much work it'll involve. I've also come across certain open-source alternatives to Game Wizard - namely
You must login or register to view this content.. How reliable is that as an alternative, and is there documentation for it anywhere?
Thanks so much in advance for any answers, I'm a little lost atm but I'm looking forward to learning.
Hi.
You can download and any save from this site free of charge. You can search for saves for a particular game by checking out the databases that Wosley has created, or you can request a game save in the game save request section. Note that these requests aren't always fulfilled however.
To use a save, you must use Save Wizard to resign it to your profile. This can be set up by copying a save that you have made yourself onto a USB stick and right clicking on it. There is an option to register profile. You can re name the profile to your psn name to make it easier.
After this, you can then resign a save to work on your profile by copying the files using the Import tab on Save Wizard.
Regarding resigning saves, you can only resign a save if it has the same CUSA code as a game that you are playing.
For example, if you are US based, you cannot resign a save from the UK region and play it.
Save Wizard supports Advanced Mode for
some games, which can allow users to re-region saves from one region to another, making them compatible. So you can re-region a US save to work on a UK game.
Not all games are supported with Advanced Mode however. Mostly games that have an online/multiplayer mode are deemed QMO (quick mode only) meaning you cannot re-region them or make your own codes for the games.
As for the link you provided to the open source software, I can't comment on it as I've never used it before.
Perhaps someone who has used it can comment on it.
Hopefully this helped.
