New to all this and I promise I've done some hunting around for a sensible answer, but there are many different opinions. I've just scored a PS4 slim on firmware 4.5 and am not sure which firmware to jump to in order to jailbreak it. I'm thinking maybe 7.00 after watching Modded Warfare's latest how to video which means I can do the modern Goldhen with just a USB stick but still have room for maneouver as far as further updates go if required.
Any ideas and thanks in advance.

I would recommend to test out that 7.00 firmware. if it has everything that you need or want then there would be no reason to upgrade any further. I am not sure, however many people have told me that firmware 9.00 is more stable. I personally don't know because I started late on the jailbreak for my console. If you think, or see the need to go even further I would recommend to not go higher than 12.00. I personally have 12.50 and it works great, however the console cannot enter rest mode, because it will crash shutdown. The same occurs when restarting, and shutdown. I don't know it it is my console or the jailbreak, because others have reported proper functionality, on 12.00, and 12.52.
